There’s a phrase I wish I could ban from church. It’s this: “God has a plan.” The only plan I dare to call God’s is to show up when life hurts.
God has a stake in our history, and God has dreams for our future. God is with us. God uses the bones of the faithful to work miracles, to set people free.
Life is full of surprises. I know I surprised some of you this week with the news that I’ll be leaving St. John’s to accept a new position.
