Today we give thanks for a woman of valor. We give thanks for Rachel Held Evans, for her courage, for her witness, for her laughter. Today we give thanks for all who have mothered and midwifed our faith.
If our scripture tell us anything this morning it is this: watch what the unlikely characters are doing when it seems no one is watching. Watch out when women talk together, about something other than men. Those women very well might be plotting the work of God.
Sermon for Sunday: I think “a capable wife” really needs a better translation for our day, because we all need some “women of valor” around us. We all need women and men who show us how to become better Christians, how to be gentle with ourselves We need women like Rachel Held Evans and heroes like Huck Finn who how to become better human beings. How to make difficult decisions. Who are you becoming?
