The God behind you is greater than the problem in front of you
“The numbers that matter at this point aren’t poll numbers. They’re not artificially deflated numbers of total infections, kept low by the lack of tests. We have to let the Dow and S&P 500 not matter right now.
The numbers that matter right now are the numbers of people we can keep from getting sick. The numbers that matter are the number of infections we can prevent from happening all at once. The numbers that matter are the numbers of tests we can make available rapidly, to get our arms around what is actually going on in our community. The numbers that matter are the phone numbers of the people we will call and check in on, and ask how they are doing. Those are the numbers matter right now.”

Don’t let God’s name be defined by hate and fear. The world needs more generous words about God. The God we speak of, the One we pray to in this place, our God blesses life in all its diversity. God works for liberation for ALL people. The world needs more words about the God of forgiveness and love, the God who invites us to grow up. Say the word “God.”
