On All Saints Day, two days before the election: the saints have a way of reminding us that our moment is just that, our moment. There have been moments like this before. There have been moments when hate has held sway over a large portion of the population. There have been times when violence and threats of violence were all around. The saints helped us survive. The saints helped chart the way through.

On Goodness
What if we learned to recognize and cultivate in ourselves and in our neighbors what is true, and loving, and good? Are we mature enough to imagine that kind of faith?
What does it mean to abide?
What does it mean to abide? What if we found ways in these anxious times, in these times when so many of us are just “hanging on,” to, instead, “hang in” there together? What if we chose, instead of grievance, curiosity and embrace?
We Wish to See Jesus
Can we quiet the busyness, the chaotic din of our days name the desire for ourselves? Do we have the boldness to ask in our prayers, in our work for justice, and every time we come to this altar: “we wish to see Jesus?”
