The past week and a half I’ve been thinking about something President Obama after Trayvon Martin was killed: “you know if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.” I can’t get those words out of my head…I am a new dad. Just over a year into parenting, I can’t stop thinking, “I have a son, and he looks like Kyle Rittenhouse.”

Did Jesus call that woman a…dog?
The question itself makes me deeply uncomfortable.
I never answered the first question, about whether Jesus called this woman a dog. The question itself makes me deeply uncomfortable. But I think that has to be the case.
Because, when you look through the lens of systemic injustice, there is no denying that the Church, that those of us who claim to follow Jesus have contributed to and benefited from the exploitation of women and people of color.
Joseph, Jacob, and Extravagant Love
If Joseph was alive today, might Joseph identify as gay, or bi, or trans or queer? What if young Joseph asked Jacob for a princess dress? And what if Jacob said yes? What if Jacob responded with affirming and lavish love?
