No Longer Strangers

Why does faith matter? Why does contemplation matter? Our faith is how we stay sane in a world with insane priorities. Our faith is about seeking the peace that St. Paul talks about. Our faith is about learning to long for a deeper wholeness when all our world offers is more painful division.

Jesus and the Sabbath

Jesus’ teaching, “the sabbath was created for humans; humans weren’t created for the sabbath” goes to the heart of Jesus’ perspective on faith. What he teaches in the first part of the story, he practices in the second. Jesus heals a man with a withered hand, on the sabbath and argues that our faith should always be life-giving. Faith should always be life-giving.

Good Shepherds and Atheists

The image of the shepherd is a radical one, radically different from the image of God so often on offer. If you struggle with the image of “God” on offer in our society, with the idea of “God” so many Christians point to in this country, this morning our Scripture offers the Good Shepherd, a counter-narrative.
