Saint Francis and the Problem of Pity

Francis chose a way that cost him, a way that asked him to suffer, to suffer with those who were in pain, with those who had been abused.

For Jesus greatness means looking to the people who are suffering most and getting in relationship, learning how to serve.

Keep the faith. Keep listening to those who are less powerful. Be willing to be corrected. Keep persisting. God will hear you.

Bathsheba’s story is a prototypical story. Men have done this to women again and again. How can we break this cycle?
