On Palm Sunday Jesus knew what he was doing was dangerous. Jesus knew that allowing a crowd to shout Hosanna, to stage a demonstration on the Mount of Olives, Jesus knew this was revolutionary. You shout Hosanna to the savior, to the rescuer, to the Messiah.
On the Vatican and Same-Gender Relationships
Yesterday many news outlets announced a ruling from the Vatican; priests would not be allowed to bless same-gender relationships. Every story I saw pointed out the most painful line in the document that the church "does not and cannot bless sin." The cross is a defiant symbol, the cross looks at the year's-long Lenten misery of our world and says Hallelujah anyhow, because God stands with those who are suffering.
Our thoughts and God’s thoughts
there is a certain freedom to be found when we are willing to let go of our flailing attempts to control our circumstances. When we stop trying to think our way out of our own discomfort, we might just find the mental space to notice one another. Christ wants us to find our lives as we seek to lighten the load of others: our spouse, our child, our parent, our neighbor. If we practice letting go, we might even get quiet enough to hear the thoughts of God.
